(0612) Borderline Thyroid Tumors: A Case Series and Literature Review Exploration

Introduction: This study dives into borderline thyroid tumors, merging a case series with a comprehensive literature review. Our aim is to better understand diagnostic ambiguities and therapeutic strategies, addressing critical gaps in current knowledge.

Methods: Employing a case series (in our tertiary hospital) approach alongside a literature review, this study encompasses a detailed examination of borderline thyroid tumors. We investigated diagnostic methodologies, therapeutic interventions, and patient outcomes, with a focus on hyalinizing trabecular tumors, well-differentiated tumors of uncertain malignant potential and non-invasive follicular neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear feature. Data from medical reports of those with final pathology with borderline neoplasm were included. We analyzed in conjunction with findings from existing literature, offering a holistic view of the current understanding and practice.

Results: Preliminary results indicate significant variability in diagnostic accuracy and treatment effectiveness. These findings, supported by statistical analyses, underscore the complexities involved in managing borderline thyroid tumors. Where all cases was diagnosed only by permanent pathology.

Conclusions: Our study suggests that an integrated approach, combining precise diagnostic methods with individualized treatment plans, is vital for effective management of borderline thyroid tumors. The insights gained from this case series and literature review highlight the need for ongoing research in this challenging field.
