(1204) Assessment of Patient Satisfaction With Dupilumab for Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps

Introduction: Dupilumab, anti-IL-4/IL-13 receptor monoclonal antibody, was approved for severe and recurrent chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) and has shown to be effective reducing nasal polyps and improving olfaction. However, patient satisfaction with dupilumab has not been investigated sufficiently.

Methods: Patients who take dupilumab treatment for CRSwNP were recruited during March 2022 to April 2023 in this prospective study. The subjects were requested to fill out the TSQM-9 (Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire for Medication-9) form, which is used as a generic clinical outcome assessment to measure patient satisfaction with the medication taken. Three domains of TSQM-9; effectiveness, convenience, and global satisfaction were assessed in comparison with those collected before the approval of dupilumab for CRSwNP. Effects of comorbid asthma and intervals of injection (every 4 weeks or 8 weeks) on patient satisfaction were also investigated.

Results: A total of 123 patients were included. The average scores of each domain were 82.3, 74.3, and 81.6 in effectiveness, convenience and global satisfaction, respectively. Every score was significantly increased (P < 0.01 for all) compared with those collected before the approval of dupilumab (54.2, 62.9 and 57.5 in effectiveness, convenience and global satisfaction, respectively). In addition, global satisfaction in patients with comorbid asthma and effectiveness in patients who took injections every 4 weeks were significantly higher than the other patients (p = 0.013 and p = 0.023, respectively).

Conclusions: Treatment with dupilumab for CRSwNP may increase patient satisfaction especially in patients with comorbid asthma. The interval of injection may affect the effectiveness of dupilumab treatment.
