PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The sphenoid sinus has numerous variations regarding pneumatization and its relation to neurovascular structures (Optic nerve, Carotid arteries, Base of skull base). Chronic rhinosinusitis with sphenoid involvement can be more difficult to treat, especially for those with chronic recalcitrant sphenoid sinusitis. This case-based panel discussion consists of simple, complex, and challenging cases for comprehensive otolaryngologists. During each presentation, we will take a detailed walkthrough of preoperative planning, surgical strategy, intraoperative challenges, and postoperative management, including possible complications. Interactive discussion on techniques (simple, extended, and radical sphenoidotomies), challenges, and experiences will be shared.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the anatomy and common pathologies affecting the sphenoid sinus.
  2. Guide the attendees from basic understanding to advanced surgical techniques through case discussions.
  3. Share personal experiences of difficult cases, including challenges and complications.
