Salivary Gland Cancer: Update on Treatment and Novel Approaches

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Salivary gland cancers can involve the major or minor salivary glands and vary from low-grade malignancies that are amenable to cure with surgery alone to high-grade malignancies which may be locally invasive or metastatic. High-grade salivary malignancies may require appropriate surgical management of the facial nerve and cervical nodes, and often involve multi-modality treatment. Less common salivary malignancies, such as adenoid cystic carcinoma, present unique challenges for initial and long-term management. Recently, systemic therapy and targeted drug agents have become increasingly used for locally advanced, recurrent, and metastatic salivary gland malignancies. Using a case-based approach and audience engagement, the instructors will highlight key updates on treatment strategies and provide examples of novel approaches for the modern management of salivary gland malignancies.
