(*CANCELED*) Performing Landmark Based Endoscopic Sinus Surgery: A Technique to Reduce Complex Cases Into Simplified Steps

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Endoscopic sinus surgery should be performed with minimal complications however, the anatomy is variable, not only between different patients but often between different sides of the same patient. In this expert lecture, the surgical anatomy of the paranasal sinuses is discussed in detail and surgical techniques designed to avoid complications are presented. Landmarks are identified that allow following the same basic steps and surgical approach in every sinus surgery, including basic or advanced cases, so that the surgical approach is similar regardless of the difficulty of the case. Using this technique, difficult cases can be reduced into a series of simplified steps. Photographs and video are shown to illustrate the surgical technique. Illustrative cases shown include non-inflammatory obstructive disease and severe mucosal disease such as allergic fungal rhinosinusitis.
