PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Seven thousand forty five papers are identified from PUBMED as dealing with surgical treatment of OSA. Many of these techniques are still in clinical use, but many are not. Treatment in the United States often is very different than the rest of the world. The panel will focus on the following techniques to discuss their current utilization. Responses from a survey of AAO-HNSF members on their practices will be reviewed.

-Transpalatal Pharyngoplasty
-Hypoglossal nerve stimulation therapy

Learning Objectives:

Review of literature on OSA surgical therapy published in the last 10 years.
Understand the difference in decision making in the United States versus the rest of the world.
Review published techniques that seem to have fallen out of clinical use.
