PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: After comprehensive otolaryngology training, many surgeons feel comfortable surgically addressing typical chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal obstruction complaints. However, benign sinus and nasal tumors will also present to these physicians in their practices, and some may not have as much experience in the diagnosis and management of these pathologies. The goal of this presentation is to educate general otolaryngologists, as well as trainees looking at sub-specializing in rhinology, a practical guide to appropriate diagnosis and surgical management of the top two benign sinonasal tumors they will see in their practices: inverted papilloma and osteomas/fibro-osseous lesions.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize when a patient is presenting with either inverted papilloma or an osteoma/fibro-osseous lesion.
Understand the appropriate steps and workup for these tumors prior to surgical resection, as well as whether or not surgical resection is always the correct management strategy.
Implement the best surgical techniques to resect these tumors and understand best post-operative practice.
