PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the practice of otolaryngology, from reshaping traditional pedagogies to spearheading innovative research methodologies. AI's role in education has rapidly progressed from basic digital learning tools to sophisticated platforms that provide immersive, personalized, and data-rich learning experiences. In research, AI is catalyzing progress through rapid analysis of datasets in genomics, drug development, and digital biomarkers. AI is changing research at the stages of planning, execution, reporting, and peer review. It is informing clinical trials in real time and allowing predictive disease modeling. This evolution opens new possibilities and creates needs for governance to ensure that ethical standards, data privacy, and patient safety standards; regulatory standards must also mitigate sources of biases and promote health equity.

This panel will explore the currently available AI technologies in medical education and research, discussing the nuances and needs of appropriate governance.

Key topics to be discussed include:
1. Exploring how AI can be used to tailor educational content and experiences to individual learner needs, abilities, and learning styles.
2. Leveraging AI for enhancing research methodologies, data analysis, predictive modeling, and automating routine tasks in research.
3. Discussing the ethical implications of using AI in the educational and research settings, including privacy concerns, bias, and fairness.
4. Examining new and emerging AI technologies and their potential impact on future educational and research practices.
5. Understanding the rationale and need for proper governance of AI, especially as it relates to the education and research.
