PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Otolaryngologists can provide comprehensive medical and surgical treatment for OSA. The need for non-CPAP therapies has become clear as the world experienced a massive recall of PAP devices in 2021 and oral appliances are now required to be tried prior to any surgical treatments by some insurance carriers. This course will teach the indications and principles of application of oral appliances for OSA. Using didactic and hands-on instruction, this course will provide the practical basis required for beginning CUSTOM oral appliance therapy and will enhance knowledge of this modality. Assessment criteria and methods for patients election, reimbursement and coding will be reviewed. Highly experienced course leaders will demonstrate impression taking and participants will have the opportunity to do so as well. Fitting and treatment management will be reviewed as well.

Learning Objectives:

Identify the indications for custom oral appliance therapy.
Learn patient assessment, preparation and consent process for oral appliance therapy.
Learn to take impressions for a custom appliance, and about fitting, titration and side effects.
