PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The evolution of radiotherapy techniques has significantly improved the survival rates of head and neck cancers, particularly in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Despite these advancements, radiation-related complications persist, impacting local hygiene and overall quality of life for patients. The implementation of precise image-guided radiotherapy and intensity-modulated proton beam therapy (IMPT) has shown a notable reduction in post-radiation complications compared to traditional methods.
While IMPT has addressed many complications, Eustachian tube dysfunction remains a prevalent issue among post-radiated NPC patients. This complication persists even with the advancements in radiation technology.
The primary objectives of our program are to share and discuss our preliminary findings, highlighting the effectiveness of IMPT in reducing radiation otological complications and addressing the specific challenges faced by post-radiated NPC patients. A comprehensive review of radiation-induced complications in otology will be presented, with a focus on emerging trends and solutions.

Learning Objectives:

We aimed to investigate the short-term and of post-irradiation ear complications in patients of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) treated with intensity-modulated proton beam therapy (IMPT) versus volume-modulated arc therapy (VMAT).
Demostrate results of bloon dilatational Eustachian tuboplasty to post-irradiation otitis media in patients of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
A comprehensive review of radiation-induced complications in otology will be presented, with a focus on emerging trends and solutions.
