2024 SIM Tank Competition & Showcase

The Simulation Showcase provides an opportunity for simulation scholars to demonstrate their innovative otolaryngology simulators, projects, and curriculum. The top three most innovative simulation project authors will present to a panel of expert judges while competing for the top prize during the SIM Tank Competition. Sponsored by the AAO-HNSF Simulation Education Committee, both events will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Congratulations to the top three finalists who will be competing in the 2024 SIM Tank.

  • Design and development of a 3d-printed intraoral flap inset task trainer - Lead Presenter: Brett Campbell, MD; Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

  • EMG-guided Laryngeal Botulinum Toxin Injection Simulator Utilizing Trans-Cricothyroid Approach - Lead Presenter: Clark Rosen, MD; University of California San Francisco

  • Low-Cost Simulator for Objective Assessment of Ultrasound-Guided Procedural Competence -Lead Presenter: Merry Sebelik, MD, FACS, MAMSE; Professor, Emory University Division of Endocrine Head & Neck Surgery

Learning Objectives:

  1. View the successful usage of simulator models or activities with proven demonstrative results.
  2. Explain the innovative, creativity, and replicability throughout the specialty to advance training and practice in the field of otolaryngology.
  3. Describe how the simulator/activity could be scaled up to produce enough of it for multiple programs to use it.
