He is a fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologist and Co-directs the Cochlear Implant Program at Seattle Children’s Hospital. His research, funded by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, employs behavioral (psychoacoustic) methods to study auditory development in pediatric cochlear implant patients. Dr. Horn’s research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, American Otological Society, Seattle Children’s Research Fund, and private donations. His clinical practice is focused on pediatric otology, cochlear implantation, hearing loss, and general pediatric otolaryngology. His wife, three tempestuous daughters, Lynk the cat, and Everest the gargoyle gecko, keep him busy when away from the hospital and the lab. During free moments, he spends his time cycling, cooking mostly vegan, trying new wines, watching movies, and playing guitar.
