Dr. Sean Massa evaluates and treats cancers and benign tumors of the head and neck, including oral, pharyngeal, laryngeal, sinonasal, salivary, thyroid and skin tumors. He uses microvascular free tissue transfer for reconstruction after cancer surgery or traumatic injury to maximize functional and cosmetic outcomes. He offers transoral robotic and laser surgery to remove cancers from the throat and voice box with fewer side effects and faster recovery.
Research interests include addressing barriers to prompt, evidence-based, equitable head and neck cancer care.
Dr. Massa is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Head and Neck Cancer and Reconstructive Surgery, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, American Head and Neck Society, and Triologic Society.
Before medical school, Dr. Massa taught high school science and math in Uganda.
