Dr. Nicole Jiam is a neurotology and skull base surgeon-scientist at the University of California - San Francisco (UCSF) and the Mass Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School. She completed her Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery residency at UCSF. She received her M.D. from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and holds a B.A. in Neuroscience with Honors and a minor in Entrepreneurship & Management from Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Jiam's research expertise focuses on cochlear implantation, complex sound processing, music perception, and flat-panel CT imaging. She is the past spARO chair of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology (ARO) and an American Auditory Society committee member. Within the Bay Area, she served as the Vice President of the San Francisco Opera BRAVO! Board of Directors, where she spearheaded educational initiatives on music and science between UCSF and the SFOpera.
As an entrepreneur and innovator, Dr. Jiam is also the co-founder of IIAM - a digital health startup venture facilitating efficient, secure medical information exchange. She is a co-inventor of a medical device for nasal inflammatory disorders. In her free time, she has served as a board member on several non-profit health & fine arts organizations and worked as a consultant for medical education companies.
