Dr. Neeraja Swaminathan is a pediatric hematologist oncologist with additional training in vascular anomalies and coagulation disorders. Dr. Swaminathan earned her medical degree from Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai, India which is her hometown. She migrated to the United States for post graduate medical education and completed her residency in Pediatrics in Brooklyn, NY. Working with a robust population of patients with sickle cell disease sparked her interest in pediatric hematology which led her to complete her fellowship in pediatric hematology oncology at the University of Iowa. Dr. Swaminathan then went on to pursue specialized training in hemophilia, coagulation disorders and vascular anomalies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She joined Vanderbilt in 2022, as faculty in the division of pediatric hematology oncology. Her clinical interests are in benign hematology, vascular anomalies, coagulation disorders and she provides comprehensive specialty care to these patient populations at the Monroe Carrell Jr. Children`s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Dr. Swaminathan cares about women and girls with bleeding and clotting disorders, and co-directs the Women`s bleeding disorders clinic at Vanderbilt with colleagues from gynecology.
