Farhoud Faraji, MD PhD has a passion for cancer biology, caring for patients with head and neck malignancies, and mentoring trainees. His goal is to become a surgeon-scientist who also advances head and neck oncology through laboratory investigation. Dr. Faraji attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine. During medical school, he was awarded the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute – National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Fellowship, which culminated in his PhD at the National Cancer Institute on the genetic and molecular underpinnings of cancer metastasis. Dr. Faraji is currently a third year Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery resident at UC San Diego. During residency, Dr. Faraji spent three years in post-doctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. J. Silvio Gutkind. His work focuses on using genetically engineered systems to decipher the malignant conversion of normal stem cells. Farhoud has been fortunate to receive research support from the National Institutes of Health, Stand Up to Cancer, and the American Head and Neck Society.
