Amar Sheth, MD is a research track resident training in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford School of Medicine. His academic career begin at the University of Texas at Austin, where he completed a research-intensive undergraduate degree in Honors Neuroscience. He also supplemented his coursework with a Computer Science minor and certificate in Social Inequality, Health, and Policy, which landed him a selective policy fellowship at the National Academy of Medicine in Washington, DC. From there, he pursued a medical degree at the Yale School of Medicine, where he used his computational background to better understand human disease. He culminated his medical degree with a thesis, titled "Single-Cell Transcriptomic Atlas Reveals Molecular Drivers of Human Inner Ear Development" under faculty advisors, Smita Krishnaswamy, PhD, and Aaron Tward, MD. He has authored over 20 publications, including in journals Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and The Laryngoscope. As a 2nd year resident surgeon, Dr. Sheth is honing his skills as a consulting physician and using his clinical experiences to develop innovative research ideas to write his CORE grant. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, hiking, running, and cycling.
