Mehdi Abouzari, MD, PhD; is a translational physician-scientist and an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of California Irvine. He has been working on several studies showing that a number of ear disorders represent migraine phenomena. Furthermore, he has successfully led several clinical trials on development of technology-based platforms and devices that address hearing loss and tinnitus. Dr. Abouzari has led a series of projects on the application of novel machine learning algorithms for decision support. He has created statistical and mathematical models for predicting recurrence following vestibular schwannoma treatment, predicting length of hospitalization and discharge disposition following complex head and neck surgery, and classifying otoscopic images based on the predicted diagnoses.
