Susmita Chennareddy is a current fourth-year medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Previously, as the 2023-2024 Steven Sacks, MD and Carole Sacks Research Fellow with the Department of Otolaryngology— Head and Neck Surgery, she investigated the role of liquid biopsy in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of HPV-associated head and neck cancer, combining her interests in healthcare policy and medical innovation. She has additionally worked as a Targeted Healthcare Innovation Fellow in partnership with Mount Sinai’s innovation incubator, served as the Executive Committee’s Chair of Clinical Operations at the East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (a student-run free clinic), and co-led coursework on the portrayal of head and neck illness through the lens of film and media.
Prior to medical school, she attended Vanderbilt University as a Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholar, where she majored in Neuroscience with a focus on neuroscience drug discovery research, minored in Economics and Cinema and Media Arts, and led a student-run international nonprofit addressing healthcare disparities in rural communities. She graduated as the Banner Bearer of the Vanderbilt University College of Arts and Science.
