Benedikt Hofauer is the head of the department of Otorhinolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria. Prior to this appointment, he had the position of senior consultant at the department for Otorhinolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery at the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich in Germany. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria in 2011 after clinical electives at the Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital (Kings College London) and the Addenbrookes Hospital (University of Cambridge). He began his residency at the department for Otorhinolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery at the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich in 2011. In 2017 he finished his thesis at the Technical University of Munich. Besides conservative and surgical sleep medicine, his research focus is on rheumatologic diseases in the head and neck, salivary gland disorders and the evolution of new fields of application in sonography.
