Subsequently, he attended the Keck School of Medicine at USC where he graduated with honors of the highest distinction. He completed residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. There, he was exposed to the wide array of medicine and surgery that otolaryngology had to offer and knew that general otolaryngology was for him. He currently practices general otolaryngology at SCPMG with specific interests in endocrine surgery, middle ear and eustachian tube surgery, and sialendoscopy. He is bilingual in Spanish and English and enjoys the diverse population and food of Los Angeles.
Nationally, he was elected to a leadership position in the American Academy of Otolaryngology (AAO-HNS) by serving on the executive board for the section for residents and fellows (SRF) for two years. He continued his involvement with the AAO Young Physicians Section as the Member-At-Large and was elected Chair 2019-2020. His efforts were recognized by receiving the Adam T. Ross (2016) and the Holt Leadership awards (2017) from the AAO-HNSF. At SCPMG, he serves as the physician lead for practice efficiency at the South Bay Medical Center, as well as the regional lead for the thyroid nodule molecular testing multidisciplinary team.
Personally, Dr. Cohen is married to Dr. Samantha Nadella, who completed a fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery and works at Harbor-UCLA. Dr. Cohen enjoys sports of all kinds and continues to play soccer weekly despite being past his glory days. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, gardening, cooking, going to spin or orange theory classes, playing drums, running, dancing, and singing karaoke.
