Lamont R. Jones, MD, MBA, is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana and completed medical school and otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, training from the University of Michigan. He completed a facial plastic and craniofacial reconstructive surgery fellowship at SUNY UpState Medical University and an MBA from Michigan State University Broad School of Business. His clinical interests include craniofacial reconstruction, trauma, and cosmetics. He is currently funded National Institute of Health to study exosome signaling in the keloid microenvironment. Dr. Jones has created a multi-disciplinary collaborative team of researchers focused on identifying keloid specific biomarkers and investigating the link between keloids and cancer. The goal of his research is to identify effective keloid therapies and to better understand racial disparities in cancer outcomes by using keloids as a model to study tumorigenesis. Jones lectures internationally and has published multiple journal articles and book chapters. He is a student mentor and volunteers time at local and international charities. His medical mission trips to Kenya have been featured in the Detroit Free Press, Detroit Hour Magazine, and an Emmy award winning special, “Care and Hope, Proud Detroit Exports”, on Detroit WDIV Channel 4. He holds leadership positions in local and national organizations such as the Board of Governors for the Henry Ford Medical Group, Board of Directors for the Michigan Otolaryngology Society and the boards of American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) and AOCMF North America.
