Antoine (Tony) Eskander MD, ScM, FRCSC is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He graduated with honors from the University of Toronto with a degree in Integrative Biology and received his MD from the same school. During residency at the University of Toronto, he completed the Royal College Clinician Investigator Program and a thesis-based Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health. After residency, he completed a Microvascular Reconstruction, Minimally Invasive (Transoral Robotic and Laser Surgery), and Head and Neck Surgery Fellowship at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. Dr. Antoine Eskander is currently an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, specifically the Microvascular and Endocrine Surgery committees and was previously a member of both the Media and Public Relations and the Outcomes, Research, and Evidence-based Medicine committees. He has won numerous research awards and has more than 220 publications. He has an active head and neck and endocrine clinical practice, is a clinician investigator, and actively participates in a surgical health services research program through the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) where he is an adjunct scientist. Surgical/Clinical Interests: head and neck oncology, microvascular reconstruction, skin defect reconstruction, robotic surgery, paragangliomas and carotid body tumors, and thyroid and parathyroid surgery. His research interests are Population-based research, thyroid/parathyroid, HPV and head and neck cancer, outcomes related to free flap reconstruction, quality and safety.
