Amanda Silver Karcioglu, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago and a fellowship-trained endocrine head and neck surgeon specializing in thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Upon graduating with honors from Williams College and the Stritch School of Medicine-Loyola University Chicago, she completed residency training at the Harvard Combined Otolaryngology Residency Program and an endocrine head and neck surgery fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear – Harvard University.
She has expertise and interest in advanced and recurrent thyroid cancer, the application of emergent technologies in thyroid and parathyroid surgery including the use of near-infrared autofluorescence for parathyroid gland identification and preservation, minimally invasive approaches including office-based ultrasound guided techniques as well as survivorship in thyroid cancer.
Dr Karcioglu serves on committees in several professional organizations including the American Head and Neck Society, the American Thyroid Association and the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. She is a member of NASIT, the North American Society for Interventional Thyroidologists.
