Jamie Oberman, MD, of Frederick Breathe Free ENT Center, MD is a summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Nu graduate of Boston College. He received his M.D. from Tufts University. He completed training at the Naval Undersea Medical Institute and the Naval Diving Training Center in 1997. His Navy tours include Submarine Squadrons in Norfolk, and Diving Medicine for Explosive Ordnance Disposal. He served as the diving casualty & hyperbarics expert consultant. Dr. Oberman deployed on submarines receiving his submarine medical officer qualification. He was the USN “Undersea Medical Officer-of-the-Year for 1999.”
He completed his Pediatrics and Surgery Internships/Otolaryngology residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He was a staff Otolaryngologist in Okinawa, Japan, Jacksonville, FL and Bethesda, MD. He was President of the Medical Staff at Naval Hospital Jacksonville.
He is board certified by the ABO and a Fellow of the ACS. He was a Professor of Surgery at USUHS. The USN Surgeon General selected him as the Otorhinolaryngology Specialty Leader, making all decisions for 100 ENT surgeons.
He was the Quality Officer at WRNMMC. Dr. Oberman authored an action plan for WRNMMC, including a communication in healthcare curriculum, cited often as a best practice throughout the Military.
In 2015, he was selected by the Navy Admiral to serve as the Medical Corps Career Planner, serving as mentor to over 3,700 physicians. He was faculty at WRNMMC and FBCH from 2014-2017. He is faculty for the Institute for healthcare excellence. He retired from the Navy in 2017, and joined the Becker ENT practice, of UPENN in Princeton, NJ. He established the inaugural ENT dept for Frederick Health in 2018. Dr. Oberman received his MBA degree in 2022. He is owner of Frederick Breathe Free ENT center. He is on staff at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, Germantown, MD.
