Walter W. Chan, MD, MPH is a gastroenterologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital specializing in gastrointestinal motility and esophageal disorders and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He has been serving as the director of the Center for Gastrointestinal Motility at Brigham and Women's Hospital since 2011. Dr. Chan's research and publications have been focusing on the role of GERD in clinical outcomes of patients with pulmonary diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, and COPD, lung transplantation recipients, and patients suffering from throat symptoms. He investigates the diagnostic testing techniques such as pH and impedance monitoring and the effects of GERD intervention in these patient populations.
