Philippe Katz is an MD with 3 specializations, ENT, radiologist, and maxillo-facial. He is a member of the AAO-NHSF, of the French ENT Society, French Radiology Society, European Radiology Society and Radiology Society of North America. He is also Associate Professor the Paris University.
He started to work in 1977 on Salivary Glands Explorations in private practice.
He was one of the first to use Iodine Oil Contrast to treat Chronic Parotitis specially on children and made this examination totally painless.
Then in 1984, he started to use Ultrasound Examination for Salivary Pathologies and developed this until now, working on a new program to improve. Recently, he wrote the first "Ultrasound Atlas of Salivary Pathologies," Instruction manual for ENT (Tablo 2021), and a new ow one: Salivary Gland Diseases Ultrasound, How to Carry out a Thorought Examination. ( 2024 Springer)
In 1988, he made the First Sialendoscopy in the world with a ultra-efin endoscope (Olympus©), and in 1990, the first removing lithiasis with the smallest basket probe.
He wrote many articles on this and gave a Course to AAO-NHSF from 1999 to 2015: What's new about non surgical treatment on salivary lithiasis. He received an Award in 2012 for his work.
1994, received the first Extra corporeal Lithotrypterr in France fo salivary gland and published more than 80 articles on the method and did 3450 lithotriepsies
All his sialendoscopies and lithotrypsies wer made under local anesthesia.
He is the only one to prove and visualize peristalsis on salivary gland canal. and tried to determine the exact etiology of certain pathology.
In 2000, he created a special food reeducation for patients without saliva after radiation treatment.
Produced more than 500 articles, courses, conferences and congress.
His life was dedicaded to the Salivary Pathologies.
