Dr. P. Daniel Knott has been the director of the section of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at UCSF since 2011. Dr. Knott has extensive expertise in facial gender affirming surgery, facial aesthetic surgery, rhinoplasty, Mohs surgical reconstruction, the treatment of facial paralysis, and microvascular facial reconstructive surgery. He co-directs the UCSF facial plastic fellowship program.
Dr. Knott earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Diego. He then completed a 6 year surgical residency at the Cleveland Clinic in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, including 1 year of microvascular research. He then pursued advanced training at the prestigious UCLA Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship.
His research efforts were rewarded with numerous national awards, including the Robert Maxwell Byers Award, the Ira Tresely Research Award, and the Ben Shuster Memorial Award from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He has authored over 70 papers, 5 book chapters, and multiple review articles. He speaks 4 languages and partners with his wife Haydee, a cosmetic dermatologist in private practice in Marin, in raising their 3 children.
