Stephanie Moody Antonio, MD, FACS is EVMS/Sentara Endowed Chair for Academic Leadership Advancement in Otolaryngology and Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Norfolk. She is a full-time clinician/surgeon with Eastern Virginia Medical School with a practice focused on ear, hearing and balance disorders where she serves as the Director of the Division of Otology and Neurotology and Director of the EVMS/CHKD Cochlear Implant Program. She is also a strong advocate for diversity, inclusion and equitable care serving as Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for American Neurotology Society (ANS) and Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Health for the Department of Otolaryngology at EVMS. She is the Secretary/Treasurer for the Coalition for Hearing Education and Research where she manages the hearing aid assistance program. She represents the American Academy of Otolaryngology as a member of the Joint Commission for Infant Hearing. She was instrumental in the initiation of public oral education programs for children with hearing impairment in Hampton Roads and in successful legislation mandating hearing-targeted CMV screening in Virginia. She serves on the Virginia Department of Health’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Advisory Board and Virginia Department of Health Workgroup for CMV Regulations and Protocols. She continues to work on policies and protocols related to childhood hearing loss and universal access for hearing care for adults.
