William S. Tierney is a Laryngologist at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio. He grew up in California, attended UC Berekely, and then attended graduate school in Human Anatomy at Case Western Reserve University. He completed his medical education and a concurrent graduate degree in Clinical Research Science at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and remained in Cleveland for residency in Oto-HNS at the Cleveland Clinic. He completed a fellowship in Laryngology and Care for the Professional Voice at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2022.
He has special interests in phonomicrosurgery, advanced airway reconstruction, and post-acute airway injury. His research interests are focused on outcomes research within the field of airway management and risk minimization. He is actively involved in multi-institutional studies of tracheostomy care, airway reconstruction, airway stenosis, and airway injury and welcomes collaboration within the field of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
