Derek D. Kao, MD, MSCR is a second-year otolaryngology resident at the University of Michigan. He graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, where he was also a four-year member of the Men's Swimming & Diving varsity team. He received his MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai through the FlexMed program. During medical school, he completed an additional research year and earned a Master's in clinical research. His research focused on predictive biomarkers in advanced-stage head and neck cancer patients.
