Hani Samarah is a fourth-year medical student at Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (FIU HWCOM) and a research fellow in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Public Health from the University of South Florida (USF) and in Biological Sciences from FIU.
Currently, Hani is involved in otolaryngology research, focusing on head and neck surgical oncology and clinical and translational research of head and neck cancer. Hani is also interested in reducing healthcare disparities. For instance, while in medical school, he serves as a volunteer and executive board member of the Student Faculty Collaborative Clinic (SFCC) and was involved in the Global Surgery Interest Group.
Hani also has experience working in the non-profit sector, including leading international medical and dental relief efforts with the Miswak Foundation to countries in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and the Caribbean. He has been a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology since 2021 and was awarded the Gold Humanism Honor Society induction in February 2024 and the Dan Castellano Ph.D. Professionalism Award in April 2023.
