Larry Hartzell, MD FAAP is a Professor of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery with The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and works at Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH). He is the Director of the Pediatric Otolaryngology ACGME Accredited fellowship at ACH. Dr. Hartzell also has been the Arkansas Cleft Team Director since 2012. He is passionate about international humanitarian mission work and care for patients local and abroad who have cleft lip and/or cleft palate. Dr. Hartzell is actively involved in multiple academic societies and organizations including AAO-HNS and ACPA. He is an active participant in multiple local as well as national committees including the Cleft Committee and VPI taskforce within the Academy and is academically active in research and lecturing locally, nationally as well as internationally. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and also certified in Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology. His major research interests include the clinical and surgical management of cleft lip and palate including novel applications of allogeneic materials, velopharyngeal insufficiency, among other things.
