Medical Student
Medical College of Georgia
Forsyth, Georgia, United States
Originally from Forsyth, Georgia, Maiah Wiley is a fourth year medical student at the Medical College of Georgia. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Georgia. Throughout medical school, Maiah has been passionate about helping underserved patient populations, as evidenced by her role as the HIV/PrEP coordinator for her school's local LGBTQ clinic. Maiah also developed a passion for surgery, leading her to participate in research on surgical outcomes in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients. Over the past two years, Maiah and her team performed extensive chart reviews to create a database for HNSCC patients. Her team has used this database to compare survival outcomes in HNSCC patients undergoing metastasic chest workup to those who did not have a workup. Maiah and her team hope to utilize this database for future research projects as well, such as looking into survival outcomes for specific tumor subsites. In her free time, Maiah enjoys live music, outdoor activities such as mountain biking, and exercising at her local CrossFit gym. She plans to pursue a surgical career upon graduation.
