Anthony Apicelli, MD, PhD, is an associate professor of radiation oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. His research interests include designing translational correlative studies, rational clinical trial design with biomarker stratification in sarcoma and head and neck malignancies, understanding the metabolic pathways that contribute to tumorigenesis in sarcomas and HNSCC, and leveraging these alterations to improve the therapeutic ratio of chemo(immuno)radiation regimens. He also is involved in better understanding the mechanisms of FLASH and spatially-fractionated radiation regimens so as to improve outcomes in hypofractionated head and neck radiation schemes, esepcially when dealing with re-irraditation cases.
