Chief Medical Officer
Elevate ENT Partners
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States
Jonathan Cooper, MD, finished his ENT residency in Miami, FL, in 1992. He was recruited by a local hospital to start an ENT practice with an income guarantee. He practiced solo for about 8 years until he became a founding member of South Florida ENT Associates, a Miami-based, single-specialty group comprised of 25 doctors from 13 practices.
From 2005 to 2015, he served as the president of South Florida ENT Associates, and during the other years, he was a board member of the practice. In 2018, the board of SFENTA decided to investigate ways to continue to grow and improve the practice, eventually considering a possible partnership with private equity to ensure the wellbeing of the practice. Dr. Cooper was part of a team of 5 partners who investigated and negotiated a PE deal, which 53 partners agreed to.
Since 2021, he has served as the Chief Medical Officer for Elevate ENT Partners, a multistate, single-specialty ENT practice. His responsibilities include overseeing a clinical compliance program, advocating for his physician partners in all aspects of the MSO business, and helping to educate colleagues about the pros and cons of his chosen practice environment.
Dr. Cooper believes in preserving the clinical autonomy of physicians to treat patients appropriately for their conditions. He advocates for physicians to work in a practice that values their skill and education, the ability of physicians to set a reasonable work schedule, and the importance of physicians taking responsibility for their actions. He is a proponent of physicians being involved in self-policing to avoid outside influences dictating their practices.
