Jens E. Meyer, MD, PhD, is Director of the Otorhinolaryngology, Head, Neck and Facial Plastic Surgery Program and Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Asklepios St. Georg Hospital, Semmelweis University/ School of Medicine Hamburg and Medical University Luebeck. Dr. Meyer specializes in ultrasound applications within otolaryngology/head and neck surgery, with an emphasis on head and neck cancer. His professional and scientific interests are further focused on minimal invasive surgery, skull base surgery, middle ear diseases and surgery, implanted hearing aids, neurotology, and plastic surgery. Dr. Meyer received his medical degree from the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, Germany and received the Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Plester Award for the best ENT MD thesis in 2000 of the German Society of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. He started his residency in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery at the Yale University in New Haven and completed it at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, Germany. Since 2008 he holds the certification as a Teacher of the German Society of Ultrasound medicine (DEGUM). Dr. Meyer completed fellowships in Laser Surgery, Special ENT Surgery, Head and Neck Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Rhinology, and Medical Oncology. He was formerly a full Professor in clinical and experimental Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and the Vice Chief of the Division of Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Luebeck, Germany. From 2003 to 2012 he served a Visiting Professor of Surgery at Yale University, Division of Surgery, ENT, Head and Throat surgery, USA. He is a distingushed member of German Society of Skull base Surgery, German Association of Physicians, German Society of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (DGHNO), GEC-ESTRO, American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) and the American Association of Otorhinolaryngologists, Head and Neck Surgeons (AAO-HNS). He is also a former scholar of the Dr. Helmut-Robert-Gedächtnis-Foundation.
