I am a Professor of Surgery at the University of Chicago, a Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist for the past 25-years, a member of the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center: Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics Program, and an educator in the Pritzker School of Medicine. I am a fellowship trained Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist with a subspecialty focus in Head & Neck, Endocrine, Salivary Gland Tumors and Cutaneous Malignancies. I have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex head and neck cancers. My expertise in the surgical management of patients extends through the diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of these patients. I have contributed and participated in numerous clinical trials here at the University of Chicago and am a strong advocate for clinical involvement in translational research.

My academic research interests include Multidisciplinary Clinical Trials for patients with neoplasms of the thyroid gland, salivary gland, and squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck and correlations with translational work looking at histopathologic, molecular and clinical features of these carcinomas.
I run the High Risk Oral Cancer Clinic with interest and experience in early diagnosis, chemoprevention, and treatment. I also manage the survivorship of numerous head and neck patients previously treated and look at their function outcomes and sequelae of therapy.

I am part of the Complex Airway Team at the University of Chicago, Co-Director of the Tracheostomy Service and also serve as the Director of Wellness.
