Outcomes of Septorhinoplasty: Examining PROMs for PNIF and Comparing to the Healthy Population

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: In this session we will examine a prospective cohort of over 100 patients who underwent septorhinoplasty for nasal obstruction and compare their pre and post symptoms and bilateral and unilateral peak nasal flow. We will examine correlations between their symptoms and their nasal flow and determine measures of success in surgery including examining minimal clinically important difference (MCID) for the measures and how their outcomes compare to the healthy population.
This work was possible thanks to the Bobby R Alford AAO-HNS endowed research grant.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Compare patients' symptoms of nasal obstruction with surgeon estimates and objective measurements of bilateral and unilateral peak nasal flow.
  2. Examine the success of septorhinoplasty surgery in providing relief of nasal obstruction symptoms by comparing different outcome measures.
  3. Compare outcomes of septorhinoplasty to symptoms and nasal flow measurements in the healthy population to explore predictors of successful surgery and realistic expectations.
