PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: There has been a paradigm shift over the past 10 years in cCMV screening and testing. A number of states have implemented hearing targeted, expanded targeted and even dried blood spot universal screening for cCMV. It is not surprising that has been a focus on the optimal statewide approach to diagnose these children. Fewer studies have looked into how to identify these children in practices that do not have a statewide mandate. Just as few studies have evaluated the optimal workup and treatment of these children once a diagnosis of cCMV has been made. Thus, any otolaryngologist who deals with pediatric hearing loss must try to decipher the often confusing literature to determine the best management of these children. The purpose of this panel discussion of experts in cCMV is to provide evidence based guidance in the optimal testing, workup and treatment of cCMV infected children for the practicing otolaryngologist.

Recognize the importance of diagnosing cCMV in your patients who present with sensorineural hearing loss.
Learn how you can diagnose cCMV infected children in your clinical practice.
Know what to do once you diagnose the cCMV infected child for optimal management.
