PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This great debate will discuss the role of adult soft tissue sleep surgery (tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, palate surgery, tongue base surgery) in the era of hypoglossal nerve stimulation. During this moderated discussion, speakers will compare and contrast soft tissue sleep surgery and hypoglossal nerve stimulation surgery with respect to indications, risks, success rates and future role in the treatment of adult OSA.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe indications for soft tissue sleep surgery and hypoglossal nerve stimulation in adults with obstructive sleep apnea.
  2. Compare and contrast success rates and risks of soft tissue sleep surgery and hypoglossal nerve stimulator.
  3. Discuss the future direction of surgery for adult obstructive sleep apnea.
