Dr. Shimrit Sharav is a clinical fellow in head and neck oncologic and reconstruction surgery at the Head & Neck Specialists, Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, in Charleston, South Carolina. She previously completed a research fellowship at the same institute. Dr. Sharav earned her MD and BSc in Health Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, both with Magna Cum Laude honors. She completed her postgraduate education in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the same university.
Following her residency at Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot, Israel, where she served as Chief Resident, Dr. Sharav joined the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute. Her work has included clinical trials, retrospective clinical outcomes research, and the establishment of a comprehensive head and neck cancer database.
Dr. Sharav has presented her research at various conferences worldwide and published several papers in her field. She is also engaged in multiple active research projects aimed at advancing the treatment and understanding of head and neck cancers.
In addition to her professional commitments, Dr. Sharav is dedicated to teaching and mentoring the next generation of medical professionals. Her dedication to education is reflected in her role as a Clinical Instructor at Kaplan Medical Center and her involvement with the HCA Healthcare Institutional Review Board.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Sharav has participated in community service, including providing medical services through telemedicine and volunteering with various organizations. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, practicing yoga, and reading fiction literature in her free time.
