Fendi Obuekwe, BS is a medical student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) Survivorship Clinic Research Fellow. Her clinical and research efforts center on promoting equitable care for under-resourced and historically marginalized communities, investigating the impact of individual and community level social determinants of health on patient-reported outcomes, and increasing social support and well-being in HNC survivors, caregivers, and pediatric ENT populations. Fendi was born in Enugu, Nigeria, has lived in Texas, Connecticut, New York, and Southwest Virginia where she graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise (HNFE) and minor in Psychology. She serves with the Pittsburgh Cancer Bridge's HNC Support Group, cultivating a supportive community and fostering peer-to-peer connections among HNC survivors and caregivers. She also serves as the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) Region 8 Community Service Co-Chair, leading service initiatives to improve food security and access to care for unhoused community members across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Delaware.
