Dustin A. Silverman, MD, is an expert head and neck surgical oncologist, specializing in providing comprehensive treatment for both benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, including the management of upper aerodigestive tract tumors involving the oral cavity, throat and larynx, thyroid tumors, parathyroid and salivary gland neoplasms, skin cancers and many other pathologies.
His specific areas of interest include robotic-assisted surgery for HPV-related head and neck cancer as well as advanced reconstructive and microvascular techniques in order to optimize function, cosmesis and quality of life for his patients. He has additional expertise in a wide range of sleep surgeries including hypoglossal nerve stimulator implantation (Inspire), uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) and hyoid suspension, among others.
After medical school, Dr. Silverman completed five years of head and neck surgery residency at The Ohio State University. He then went on to complete his fellowship at the University of California, Davis, specializing in the management of head and neck cancers.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Silverman is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He takes pride in training residents and fellows to become excellent surgeons and enjoys educating medical students to help them achieve their goals.
When not in clinic or teaching, he enjoys working on various clinical and translational research projects designed to improve patient care, including surgical and non-surgical treatment of HPV-related head and neck cancer, identifying clinically relevant and modifiable factors that improve outcomes for head and neck cancer patients, and survivorship.
