Medical Student
John A. Burns School of Medicine
My name is Sameer Kejriwal (B.S.) and I am a current third-year medical student at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, based on the island of O’ahu in the state of Hawai’i, with a career interest in Otolaryngology. My hometown is Redlands, California where I grew up with the support of my younger sister and parents, both of whom immigrated from Northern India. Growing up, my hobbies included tennis, biking, and hiking. Since moving to Hawai’i, my hobbies have remained outdoors but shifted to surfing and bodyboarding with friends, and diving in local bays. I am grateful for the unique school experience here, where I can jump in the ocean after outpatient clinic duties and listen to the thousands of humpback whales underwater.
In addition to exploring new hobbies, I also developed a passion for head and neck surgery. Between the intricate anatomy and the diverse research opportunities, I was quickly drawn to the field. Moreover, after completing my otolaryngology 3rd year elective, I was amazed with the potential to treat a patient from diagnosis to surgery to postoperative care and follow-up, making me feel present for the whole course of a patient’s illness.
