Clinical Database Manager for Head & Neck Cancer and PhD Student in Clinical Epidemiology

Jasmine Handford, MSc, is a Clinical Database Manager for Head and Neck Cancer in the Guy's Cancer Real World Evidence Programme; a multi-disciplinary collaboration between academics and clinicians at King's College London and Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) in South-East London (UK). She is responsible for developing and maintaining a REDCap-hosted clinical and research database for head and neck cancer at GSTT, ensuring the collection of high-quality prospective data alongside the concurrent transformation of retrospective legacy data. Jasmine is also working with the Cogstack team to advance the application of Natural Language Processing (NLP) to unstructured cancer data held within GSTT to enrich the structured datasets. In October 2023, Jasmine began her PhD in head and neck cancer epidemiology under the supervision of Professor Mieke Van Hemelrijck, Dr Jean-Pierre Jeannon, and Dr Beth Russell. Prior to joining the Guy's Cancer Real World Evidence team, Jasmine completed her MSc in Cancer at University College London where she undertook a research project investigating the predictive value of minimal residual disease (MRD) in adult acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. She previously received her BA in Natural Sciences, specialising in Neurobiology, from the University of Cambridge in 2019.
