Medical Student
Duke University
Avivah Wang, BS, is a fourth-year medical student at Duke University School of Medicine who next year intends to pursue residency training in otolaryngology. Her impressive research resume led her to be awarded an NIH R25-funded research year as part of the Duke Otolaryngology Surgeon-Scientist Training Program. Her research projects span a broad range of topics, including understanding equity in treatment for vestibular patients, examining adherence to evidence-based clinical practice in pediatric tonsillectomy, and investigating symptoms in patients with non-rhinogenic headache. She also has previous experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning research, which she hopes to use in the future to improve patient outcomes in otolaryngology through optimizing technologies such as hearing aids and cochlear implants or predicting outcomes following medical or surgical treatments.
