Dr. Axel E. Renteria, MD, MS, is a Clinical Instructor and Fellow in Rhinology at Stanford University, affiliated with the Division of Rhinology, Endoscopic Sinus, and Skull Base Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery. A graduate of Université de Montréal with a Medical Doctorate and post-graduate training in Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Renteria has developed a profound expertise in chronic rhinosinusitis and endoscopic sinus surgery, particularly in the context of inflammation and microbiome studies. His research has significantly contributed to understanding the mechanisms of action in chronic rhinosinusitis, including the role of azithromycin in epithelial restoration and inflammation reduction.
Dr. Renteria’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Honors Microbiology & Immunology and a Master of Science in Experimental Medicine from McGill University.
