Dr. Spear recently joined ENT and Allergy Associates of Florida in April 2024 after a successful career and retirement from the U.S. Air Force, having achieved the rank of Colonel. Dr. Spear received undergraduate degrees from Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, followed by a medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He then completed a general surgery internship and residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.
Dr. Spear served as a general Otolaryngologist in the Air Force at the military hospital at RAF Lakenheath, England. He returned to The Ohio State University for a research fellowship followed by a clinical Neurotology fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. He served out his remaining Air Force career at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. He was a core faculty member for the Otolaryngology residency program, served in leadership positions such as the Chief of the DOD Hearing Center of Excellence and was a member of the Air Force Cycling Team.
Dr. Spear is an Associate Professor and an instructor/panelist at national conferences. He is board certified in Otolaryngology and Neurotology by the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, the Triological Society, the American Neurotology Society, the Otosclerosis Study Group and the Society of Military Otolaryngologists. He has co-authored over 25 scientific manuscripts along with several book chapters and book reviews.
