Ann M. Gillenwater, MD is a Professor in the Department of Head & Neck Surgery and Director of the Oral Cancer Prevention Center at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, USA. She earned a BA in Russian studies from Brown University in 1979 and received her MD from the University of Virginia in 1983. She completed residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston followed by a 2-year fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Gillenwater’s clinical interests include HNSCC, oral precancers and cancers, salivary neoplasms, and non-melanoma skin cancer. An NIH funded investigator, her research interests focus on development of new technologies for detection and diagnosis of early cancer and precancer. Dr. Gillenwater has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer for multiple journals.
